(Communication) technologies are primarily designed for communicating with others. Yet, they are also powerful tools in understanding oneself when the communication is done with oneself.
Writing for yourself, keeping a diary, blogging, allows for self-reflection. Because the technology of writing allows for what was subject (one’s thoughts) to become object (a work of words on the page or screen).
If writing allows self-reflection on one’s , what do emerging ubiquitous technologies enable? Perhaps they allow for self-reflection on one’s , as we use ubiquitous technologies to track more and more data about our daily lives.
These tools have the potential to better realize right thought and right action. But of course it requires a conscious effort to use and design them that way.
